Superior North Volleyball Club’s 14U Girls Make a Statement in Tournament Debut

The Superior North Volleyball Club’s 14U Girls Competitive Team made their debut at the Minnesota North Showcase Tournament in Duluth, Minnesota, on March 22, 2025, delivering an impressive performance. Competing together for the first time, the team showcased incredible teamwork, skill, and determination, ultimately finishing in 3rd place against a strong field of competitors. Their achievement is a testament to their hard work, dedication, and the exceptional coaching they received.

Coaches Cayleigh Fossum and Alexis Cancade were incredibly proud of their team’s performance. “From the very beginning, it was clear that this team was put together and strong, with each athlete contributing to the overall dynamic,” said Coach Cayleigh. “They demonstrated excellent teamwork and skill, finishing in 3rd place in their first tournament. It’s a remarkable feat and speaks volumes about their potential moving forward.”

Coach Alexis echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the team’s ability to stay focused and support one another. “We’re really proud of how this team performed this past weekend. They showed great teamwork, determination, and skill throughout the tournament. The team stayed focused and supported each other, which was amazing to see. It was a great experience for everyone involved!”

Throughout the tournament, the 14U team proved they had the talent to compete at a high level, despite being a new group of athletes. Athletes in grade 7 demonstrated impressive jump and float serves, catching their opponents off guard, and their pass-and-spike system was executed flawlessly. “The way they came together as a team, communicating and executing plays, was incredible,” said Coach Cayleigh. “Every player played a vital role, and it showed in every match. They truly played with heart, and it made all the difference.”

The team advanced to the gold division after pool play and fought hard in the playoffs to secure their third-place finish. “We are so proud of how hard they worked, and it was amazing to see their dedication and effort pay off,” Coach Cayleigh continued. “The 3rd-place finish was a reflection of their skill and determination, and it’s just the beginning for this team.”

Athlete Maci Czimar shared her excitement about the experience: “I am so honored to play volleyball with such a supportive and loving community. Being on this team has taught me a lot, and I have Cayleigh, Alexis, and these amazing girls I’m proud to call my teammates to thank for that. The tournament was such a fun experience—not just playing volleyball, but bonding with my teammates. I’m sad that the season has to end, but I’m so lucky to play with such talented athletes, and I can’t wait to see where life takes them.”

Teammate Avery Kydd echoed Maci’s thoughts, reflecting on the growth she’s experienced with the team: “Being on the team has been an amazing experience. Everyone on the team, including the coaches, is so supportive, loving, and encouraging. My love for volleyball has grown so much in these past few months. Competing in our first tournament together brought us all even closer, and I love this team more than ever. I hope we continue to play together in the future.”

The Superior North Volleyball Club is incredibly proud of the 14U Girls Competitive Team’s performance at the Minnesota North Showcase Tournament. Their dedication to each other, to their sport, and to their coaches is truly inspiring. This debut performance has laid a strong foundation for the team’s future, and we look forward to supporting them as they continue to grow, develop, and strive for even greater success.
